Terms of Service
Effective July 8, 2026
Ikai is a place to think with AI without surrendering to it. These terms keep that deal honest in both directions: what you can expect from us, and what we ask of you.
1. What Ikai is right now
Ikai is in private beta. It is a personal knowledge tool: you write cells, connect them into a living map, collect resources on visual boards, and work with an AI partner over your own thinking. Because it is a beta, features will change, improve, and occasionally break while we refine them.
2. Your account
Access is by invitation. You sign in with a magic link sent to your email, so keeping access to that inbox secure is your responsibility. One account is for one person. If you believe someone else has accessed your account, contact us right away.
3. Your content is yours
Everything you create in Ikai (your cells, notes, boards, images, and recordings) belongs to you. We claim no ownership. You grant us only the narrow license needed to operate the service: storing your content, syncing it between your devices, and displaying it back to you. You can export your whole mind as Markdown or JSON at any time from Settings, and you can delete everything just as easily.
4. The AI
Ikai's AI features are powered by Anthropic's Claude models. When you invoke the AI, the relevant parts of your workspace are sent to Anthropic to generate the response. AI output can be wrong, incomplete, or confidently misleading. Ikai is built on the belief that you stay the judge of what is true: verify before you trust, and treat unverified AI content as a lead, not a fact.
Each account has a monthly AI budget determined by its plan. When the budget runs out, AI features pause until the next cycle or an upgrade; everything else in Ikai keeps working.
5. Plans and billing
The free plan includes the full product with a modest monthly AI budget. Paid plans, when available, add a larger AI budget and are billed monthly through Stripe. You can cancel at any time from Settings; your paid plan then runs to the end of the period you already paid for and does not renew. We may change prices or plan shapes, and will give existing subscribers reasonable notice before any change affects them.
6. What we ask of you
Use Ikai lawfully and in good faith. Do not attempt to break, overload, probe, or reverse the service, bypass usage metering, or access anyone else's data. Do not upload content you have no right to hold. We may suspend or close accounts that abuse the service or put other users at risk.
7. Beta realities
We work hard to keep your data safe, and the export tool exists so you always hold your own copy. Still, this is a beta: the service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind, and we may pause features (including AI, at spend ceilings) or the whole service for maintenance. To the maximum extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim arose.
8. Ending things
You can delete your account from Settings at any moment. Deletion is immediate and removes your account, your synced workspace, your stored media, and your usage history from our systems. We would rather you export first; the button for that is right next to it.
9. Changes to these terms
If these terms change in a way that matters, we will post the update here with a new effective date and let active users know. Continuing to use Ikai after a change means you accept it.
